Psychotherapy and Clinical Supervision

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a relationship between two individuals that can offer greater awareness, insight, and change and improve satisfaction with life. Psychotherapy techniques are useful when they are chosen to meet the needs of the person seeking treatment and the situation.

I utilize a practical approach to treatment, and am well trained in several therapeutic approaches.  However, the way that we engage in therapy will depend on what you need and on what is most likely to work for you.

Treatment of Depression and Anxiety

We will examine your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to see where you might find a new perspective and new ways of doing things. Sometimes it is beneficial to see if medication is useful for your recovery. The work you do will provide you with skills to help you cope with difficulties that may arise at another time in your life.

Couples and Family Therapy

When one person in a family or couple is suffering, all other members suffer, too. It can be helpful to bring in the people who are closest to you to see what they can do to help, and to learn the ways in which all of you can make adjustments in your habitual ways of relating to bring greater harmony and create more intimacy. We can decide together if couples or family therapy is right for you.
